The Fall Colors have peaked. It is still gorgeous, but this will be the last big week-end for them. The wind is beginning to blow as cold fronts come paast and the leaves fly around and come off the trees. It is fall break and most of the students are gone, so the town is quiet except for the leaf peepers and those who are coming to the two big fall fairs we have each year. The Valle Country Fair is held each year to raise money for the mission and outreach programs of Holy Cross Episcopal Church. All of the crafts people and artisans are juried into the fair by a committee, and the offerings are of very high quality. The Wooly Worm Festival runs gtwo days and is a major effort put forth by the town of Banner Elk with craftrs vendors, games, food, and entertainment of high quality. Both are worth attending, but it makes for a full day of fair going. Weather is predicted to be sunny and cool, so should be a great time.

Susan and i live in the "High Country" of North Carolina. This is the area near the corner of NC that abuts both Virginia and Tennessee. The mountains are gorgeous most of the time. The winter is sort of sparce as we have many more deciduous trees than evergreens, but when it snows things are spectacular. In the spring and summer we have pretty green forests on the mountains, the falls are spectacular with the full range of colors. Traffic is bad then because the leaf peepers are all over the place driving slowly and taking in nature's glory.

Susan is a papermaker. She makes collages from handmade paper that she produces in her studio. I do photography and teach that as an adjunct at Appalachian State University in Boone. We work together sometimes and that has so far worked out well. An occasional photo into a collage, and then I have done some alternative process images on handmade paper. Mainly we are having fun.

We live in the mountains of Western North Carolina, near Boone, in a village named Valle Crucis. Susan is an artist, having received her MFA from Old Dominion University. She makes handmade paper and then assembles collages from the paper. I make photographs. Self taught and also educated by the workshop route, I am an adjunct professor at Appalachian State University. This web site is an attempt to let people see our work. If there is anything you want to know more about, to inquire about purchasing a photograph or piece of art, or any other comments, then email me (Pac) . Periodically the web site will get updated with new photos, new art, a few articles and probably some rants and screeds from me (Pac).
