These
are pictures made this past May in Havana. I need to thank Yunieski, Damarys,
and Jamalys who posed for these images. I also need to thank my friend and fellow
photographer Leysis who helped me immensely in obtaining these images. Being
in Cuba is a special sort of existence. If existence precedes essence, then
in spite of the decay around them, these women have the essence of being. They
know who they are, they enjoy their lives, and they have faith in the future.
