The
three pictures across the top are of the walls in a mountain house over toward
the Tennessee line. There are two handicapped brothers who live there. One goes
out to an adult respite or day care twice a week. The other stays home. There
are cousins, friends and social services people who come and stay with them
during the day. These are the kitchen walls. When the boys were growing up their
mother put brown paper all over the walls and told them they could draw or glue
things to the walls. It is fascinating to see. As one moves up the wall from
floor to ceiling, you can see the boys' tastes changing. This is genuine primitive
art or outsider art at its finest. Truly naive, not some of the knock-offs being
done by nephews, children, or neighbors of other famous primitive artists. The
other pictures are just nice images from last summer and fall.
